Oh my gosh, this is not a crossover I would have expected.

I like the banter - Clint teasing Steve with clumsy dated slang was on point - and I like the bold twist you're taking with the formatting in order to bring the House of Leaves vibe to life. Did you find it difficult deciding how to approach that element?

Very difficult! I wanted to do so much more with that but I ran up against my own limitations as well as some limitations on AO3.

I'm ridiculously happy that you liked the Clint stuff. I've never been great at writing for him.

Opted for the ST one, just in case I do decide to read Paper Girls someday ;)

I liked all the detail in the memories and the observations - Will's tabletop metaphors, Mike's big Wheeler eyes, the memory of the deer - and how you used them as a contrast between Will's life before and his struggle to figure out what he is now, after, and how he fits back in. It felt like a child's attempted rationalisation of something traumatising on a terrible scale.

The rhyme was a really nice touch, helped slide the story further into prickling surreality, and the uncertainty of whether we the readers should be hoping she drew the Moon again makes for a memorable ending. (DEFINITELY nabbed the World of Darkness vibe.)

Oh my god.

I like that Rasputin considers him a COUSIN of all things, both the AI being petty little shits in their own ways (I laughed at Raz blasting music because HE WOULD), and ofc I can never go past massive supermachine intelligences grumbling about their affection for their pet humans.

:D THANK YOU, I'M GLAD I COULD AMUSE. (The cousin thing is actually canon in one of the D1 grimoire cards! Rasputin refers to something Durandal says at the end of Marathon: Infinity with "It's like my cousin said, elsewhere" and I COULD NOT RESIST LATCHING ONTO THAT. Admittedly with additional flavor from the passive-aggressive sniping of Sphene and Breq in Ancillary Mercy.) AIs being annoyed about having feelings for their humans is also pretty much my favorite thing, so - I'm glad not to be alone in this! ♥

Ooh... if it’s not cheating to go for one you’ve already commented on, I’ll toss out Wake Up and Wake Up (the whole fic or any single chapter of - well, minus the one that doesn’t exist yet). If it is cheating: Pilgrim’s Flight.

This was an excellent reason to finally catch up with the latest chapter of Wake Up tbh, so I did that :)

I have always and continue to like the way you worldbuild. The scene of her talking to the reckless newbs about one-in-the-chamber was GORGEOUS, such an interesting delving into the culture surrounding death, and all the little descriptors of locations and decorations brought the Tower to life.

I like the rapport between Mithrax's crew, setting them apart within the ruthless hierarchies typical of the Fallen; their dry sass was a delight. Also tugged a wince out of me with-

"What was with the dreg though?"
"...waste of ether."
"Ha! Funny, that's exactly why I was asking."
