Title: Tempest
AO3: Link
Rating: G
Series: The Rider Series (Danny Fisher, Carlo Goss)
Wordcount: 1,730
Summary: Foul weather begets foul moods.
Remarks: This is the kind of fic that gets written when I'm frustrated with not writing fic, which is to say I won't argue it's my best work or particularly meaningful but by GOLLY at least I wrote something.

From the individual who brought you a playlist for A House of Many Doors, we have the latest in playlists for niche media - and of course I had to take a crack at CJ Cherryh's Finisterre duology sooner or later. It was an interesting challenge to try and capture a frontier vibe without too much straightforward American West.

And a second playlist, just because: I realised a while ago I was amassing quite the collection of songs about climate change, and sometimes that's the sort of catharsis you need after reading through the latest figures and reports and predictions. It swings somewhere else by the end, though, because I also think it very needful to remember why it still matters.

Title: There's Something Waiting For You

Rating: G
Series: The Riders Series (Carlo Goss, Randy Goss)
Wordcount: 781
Summary: Randy introduces Carlo to his horse.
Tags: No Archive Warnings Apply, Post-Canon, Brotherly Fluff
Remarks: With this, I am officially half the archive fics for this fandom, haha. Rather proves the 'I am most likely to write when what I want isn't there' point! In this instance, I wanted future brotherly bonding and some musing about how one pulls a name out of a horse's self-image.

Title: Crossroads
AO3: Link
Rating: G
Series: The Riders Series (Tara Chang)
Wordcount: 1,060
Summary: There's a choice to be made, but Tara's not sure she's ready to make it.
Tags: No Archive Warnings Apply, Post-Canon, Grief
Remarks: I had a devil of a time settling on the conclusion to this one, and in a way that struggle became the conclusion. Call it the wordy version of a sketch - rough in places but holding enough character on its own to get the ol' one-two-yeet.

Not my most productive ficathon, but I did manage two fills for some very beloved fandoms so that was nice c:

Title: Celestial Objects

Rating: G
Series: The Riders Series (Danny Fisher, Carlo Goss)
Wordcount: 915
Summary: A warm spring evening, a lonely road, and Danny and Carlo, star-gazing.
Remarks: Three times makes a tradition, right? Something about the end of year break seems to get me in the nighthorse mood, and this time I did manage something short and sweet! Plus everyone has to have at least one fic with this title, surely.

Title: Trouble That Does Not Search Words
Rating: G
Series: The Riders Series (Carlo Goss, Danny Fisher)
Wordcount: 3,538
Summary: Early into their partnership, Carlo finds himself in a precarious position when Danny is injured.
Remarks: One of my writing goals this year was apparently to finish another Finisterre fic, and upon seeing that I thought: aw, surely I can turn that scene I've been sitting on for like two years now into something, just a nice little 400-700 word scribble as an end of year salute. So I re-read the duology... and then proceeded to write this ambient-centric monstrosity instead, mostly on GoogleDrive and mostly on my phone, for reasons beyond my ken. Still, delighted to have it done! I will carry my torch for telepathic alien horses into the dark.

Title: Another Round
Rating: G
Series: The Riders Series (Danny Fisher, Carlo Goss)
Wordcount: 2370
Warnings: Post-series, so spoilers
Summary: Years down the track, Danny gets a chance to keep an old promise.
Remarks: This goes out to the four people who commented on my last Finisterre fic, which is honestly four more than I was expecting. I really like writing for Finisterre-verse, so it's nice to think it's filling in a niche for someone. (Maybe I should try myself an actual Yuletide this year, I certainly have enough small fandoms I know I can write for.)

Title: Kinship
Rating: G
Series: The Riders Series (Danny Fisher, Carlo Goss)
Wordcount: 2244
Warnings: Big fat spoilers for the duology.
Summary: A few weeks after the events at Evergreen, Danny and Carlo take a ride and talk nighthorse psychology.
Remarks: CJ Cherryh knows how to tickle my soft spots - between the wild frontier sci-fi blend setting, the alien not-quite-horses who thinks human minds are delicious, and the sheer vividity of the telepathic ambient she created, these books won me over big time and I couldn't help but try my hand at a bit of fic.
