I don't often buy hardcopy books these days, mostly because my shelves are close to full and I don't want yet another entire bookshelf to haul around with me every time I move. Still, as convenient as ebooks are, I do miss having hardcopies of everything, especially series where I might want to page through to find specific sections or details. You can't skim with a Kindle as easily, nor remember a moment's physical place when it doesn't have one.

This is a reflection inspired by the fact I went to look up details and tripped into rereading the whole Books of the Raksura series. Not a great hardship and a reread was due anyway, but it's definitely the kind of series where the novels are both stories and reference texts. I may have to crack and look into getting them in paper form someday, space issues be damned.

I'm much more likely to buy nonfiction hardcopies than fiction ones nowadays, and I think this is the reason - finding references is such a pain on Kobo. I want to write some Raksura fic, but the idea of trawling through my ebook copies for the canon details I want is just Too Much right now (I will be due a reread at some point, but my booklist is longggg).

(Also, I see that you have posted some Raksura fic! I look forward to reading it when I'm more than half-awake. ♥)
