They've released a comparison trailer for the upcoming Mass Effect Legendary remaster and... I hate to be the unpleasable fan, but I can't say I'm that impressed? On a first watch I was actually a little disappointed; the insistence on brightening the colours and sharpening the edges threatened to make the game feel more sterile than 'modern'. A second watch on a bigger screen has soothed some of that concern; I just hope they haven't accidentally scrubbed the emotional atmosphere out of the big moments.
There also appears to have been zero attempts made to address ME's more embarrassing legacy re: women. Boy did I raise an eyebrow at the apparent attention paid to rendering Liara's outfit in extra boob-clinging detail compared to the original. She looks like she's been vacuum-sealed in. Going to guess they've done nothing about Miranda's outfit then, or Ashley's hairdo in the third, or literally anything about the asari in general. Sigh.
Unfortunately for my tastes and my wallet, the series is still very dear to me and I'll be picking this up at some point regardless of the flaws. It'd be nice to not have to pay more money for a product I already own, but alas, I do still want to play it on console rather than PC and my Xbox 360 is on its last legs. At least it's a very thorough package - they're apparently including all the DLCs in there. Will they include my hoodie and robot dog though? Vital questions remain.

This was also my biggest concern, especially considering how many of the 'beautification passes' (or attempts to make consistency in the character models) end up lightening characters and making some of the outfits and designs look *less* realistic for the sake of lovingly shrink-wrapping those bewbs.
That said...man, I love this series a lot and will end up buying and replaying it anyway, I'm sure.

THE SHRINK-WRAPPING IS KILLING ME. She looks ridiculous TAT Liara noooo.

*eyeroll*
I'm really not impressed with the LE, either. I don't like any of the screenshots I've seen. I'm probably not going to buy it or if I do, it will be faaaar in the future, and probably secondhand.
Edit: And I'm narked that they changed the handling on the Mako. I liked it being wonky! It was more fun that way!

I will definitely be reminding myself I don't need this edition until I'm in the actual mood to replay the series. If I can pay less than $100 that'd be grand.
I am apathetic to the Mako, but I acknowledge it as the source of many wonderful memes. I just hope they've fixed the shitty shooter mechanics in the first game if anything >> AND THE AGONISING UPGRADE SYSTEM.
